UPDATING THE NEWS FOR 2009.
With so much that came along in 2009, getting to update the website went by the way, so here is a quick look of what happened in 2009......
March 2009
Bluegrass Cast A Spell was awarded Supreme Arabian at Robertson Show.
Valerie Sommer sent us a photo
of her daughter of Bluegrass Electra Cute.
Bluegrass Fairy Tale is awarded Top 10 at the 2009 Australian National Arabian Championships, Werribee.
Norma is diagnosed with Breast Cancer (early march) and is operated on the first day of the Aussie Champs.
Bluegrass Cast A Spell is Champion Mare/Filly at Shoalhaven show.
APRIL 2009
Bluegrass Cast A Spell is Supreme Arabian at Campbelltown Show.
Bluegrass Geronimo completes another Endurance ride in Tasmania, this time a 80km, awarded Runner up Best Conditioned and 2nd Heavy Weight.
MAY 2009
Dawn Vanderwolf,QLD, is the proud new owner of Bluegrass Love Me True (Mash x Bluegrass Lovepotion), the only full sister to Bluegrass Love Me Tender.
SEPTEMBER 2009
Norma's cancer treatments have all finished for now, she ended up have 4 chemo treatments 2 weeks apart and then radiation every day for 6½ weeks. But you would never know that she had, she was very fortunate to suffer minimal side effects.
OCTOBER 2009
Condolences go to Anja Harley on the passing of her much loved Raven Lodge Musical - 2-12-04 / 3-10-09, out of Bluegrass Snap Shot.
A week after the passing of her son, Bluegrass Snap Shot gives birth to a lovely Riding Pony filly sired by Keira Park Cascade.
Peter & Maree Stokes are wrapt to have Bluegrass Fairy Tale in foal to their resident stallion Shakla's Fame N Fortune.
Sue Edmonds in WA is very pleased with her colt born this month by her stallion Bluegrass Rendition.
NOVEMBER 2009
Bluegrass Cast A Spell has been awarded another Championships ribbon and is now also in foal to Tess & Steve's own colt.
Bluegrass Heart Of Gold has been awarded Champion at Harvey & Waroona Agricultural shows, in Western Australia.
Bluegrass Made In Heaven (exp NZ) has given birth to a filly by Jacob JCA.
DECEMBER 2009
We welcome Louise & Ben McIntyre to the Bluegrass family, with their purchase of the yearling filly Bluegrass Lovesong.

Belated 7th February 2009 - NZ SUPREME
With all the bushfire happening, and everything safely packed, I did not get a chance to put up the fabulous news from Lee Cox in New Zealand.
On the 7th February Lee took BLUEGRASS MADE IN HEAVEN (D'Amors Saabi-Khan x Bluegrass Love Me Tender) and colt foal Euralea Enfinity (by Euralea Light My Fire) to the Canterbury 30th All Arabian Show and South Island Championships.
HEAVEN won her class and was again Senior Most Classic. Her colt ENFINITY, just over 3 months old, was awarded Champion Colt and then went onto win SUPREME CHAMPION of show.

Lee. Sounds like you have a new star in the making!

February 2009 - VALE STEPHEN LACKAS
Sandra Lackas will be at an unbelievable loss.....her husband Stephen lost his life in these terrible fires. We heard some reports over the weekend, but then it was confirmed......his picture was on the back page of the Herald Sun.

7th February 2009 - BUSHFIRES IN VICTORIA
They have been
saying this week, that the build up to today is worse than
Ash Wednesday, so we are on high alert for fires today. It is so hot (got to
47.9), with hot winds.
Heard reports of the fire in Kilmore / Wallan....oh no it is now in Kinglake......OMG Yarra Glen..........it is coming over the hills at the back of the farm (west).......we are on full standby....fire fighting pumps and tanks ready.

Head, 1st Mare 4 years & over, Champion Mare and SUPREME ARABIAN EXHIBIT.

It is with great sadness that we pass on the news of the passing of NIHAL PHILLIPA today. At 31½ years of age, age had finally caught up with her and we new the time had come.
She entered our lives in 1979 and even though she herself has left us, she will be in our hearts forever.......and alive through all of her family members that we have:

MESHAEL EL KHALEDIAH EL THANIYA, the beautiful Marwan Al Shaqab daughter from BLUEGRASS EASY LOVIN (exp Saudi Arabia) enjoyed a successful time at the 19th Qatar International Arabian Horse Show, winning 1st in the 2yo filly, Junior Female Gold Champion and the prize for the highest points in Head/Neck (80pts).
We hope to have some photos in the near future.

Sad news today.....Jill & Richard Cerveny had to lay their beautiful 23yo lady, Bluegrass Anticipation (Tristram Apparition x Bluegrass Filigree) to rest today. Our condolences go to you both at this very sad time
