Among her many attributes.......... her feminine, easy going and friendly manner, have made NIHAL PHILLIPA a pleasure to own.

Over the last two decades, whichever stallion PHILLIPA has been bred to, she has produced the sire's qualities in the foals. She has transmitted an emphasis on extreme classic type and quality to her offspring by 8 different stallions. She has produced no less than 9 champion sons and daughters and PHILLIPA remains an important part of the Bluegrass Breeding program, even though she may never produce a foal again..........

her grand daughters BLUEGRASS LOVE ME TENDER, BLUEGRASS CAST A SPELL, BLUEGRASS WITH LOVE (pending) ...........

and her great grand daughters BLUEGRASS GIFT OF LOVE (pending) and BLUEGRASS HEART OF GOLD (pending)  !!

We start this story with the acquisition of a yearling filly, from the now late, Bob Pilgrim. He purchased her from the annual Victorian Arabian Horse Auction, to keep an interest in the Arabian Horse, as he had recently dispersed his Warwick Arabian Stud. Bob then entrusted NIHAL PHILLIPA to Paul and Norma Walker of Bluegrass Arabians, to prepare, train, show and eventually sell. But destiny had already placed PHILLIPA at her new life home. She was to become a treasured part of the Bluegrass Family !

 

Even though PHILLIPA was successful in the show ring, at her only showing - the 1980 Wangaratta Agricultural Show she was Reserve Champion Female to our own BLUEGRASS ARRIVAL, her real success was to be as a broodmare, but this was not to be recognised until quite a few years later.
